Inspire Peace, Built by a Certified Aquascape Contractor

At Red Clay Waterscapes, our pond‑building process is designed to inspire peace, attract wildlife, and blend seamlessly into the natural environment. As a Certified Aquascape Contractor (CAC), we follow the official 20‑Step Aquascape Construction Process — the gold standard in the water‑feature industry.

Our Proven 20‑Step Aquascape Construction Process

1. Site Layout & Shape

We outline the pond or waterfall footprint to ensure a natural, flowing design.

2. Excavation

We dig to the correct depth, shape shelves, and prepare the waterfall grade.

3. Underlayment Installation

A protective layer is added to prevent punctures and extend liner life.

4. Liner Installation

The EPDM liner is shaped to form a watertight foundation.

5. Skimmer Placement

Installed at the proper height to maintain water level and collect debris.

6. Biofalls Placement

The biological filter is set at the top of the waterfall for natural circulation.

7. Plumbing & Flex Pipe

We run plumbing between the skimmer and Biofalls for reliable flow.

8. Setting Foundation Boulders

Large structural rocks are placed to anchor the design.

9. Rocking the Pond Interior

Medium and small rocks are added to eliminate exposed liner.

10. Waterfall Construction

Rocks are stacked and locked to create natural cascades and sound.

11. Gravel Installation

Gravel protects the liner and supports beneficial bacteria.

12. Skimmer & Biofalls Connection

All fittings are sealed and secured for watertight performance.

13. Trimming the Liner

Excess liner is cut and tucked for a clean, professional finish.

14. Edging & Berm Work

We blend the feature into the landscape using rock, soil, and gravel.

15. Rinsing & Pump‑Out

The pond is rinsed to remove dust and debris.

16. Final Fill & System Start‑Up

We fill the pond and start the pump to begin circulation.

17. Leak Check & Flow Tuning

We inspect edges, adjust rock placement, and fine‑tune the waterfall.

18. Aquatic Planting

Plants are added to support the ecosystem and enhance natural beauty.

19. Clean‑Up & Detailing

We wash down rocks, tidy the site, and polish the final look.

20. Walkthrough & Maintenance Tips

We show you how everything works, explain seasonal care, and offer maintenance packages.
